That is the question . Whether it´s nobler in the mind . . . to suffer the slings and
arrows of outrageous fortune . . . or to take arms against a sea of troubles . . . and by
opposing them end them ? To die . . . to sleep . . . ? . . . no more . . .

Think of the number of lives that can be saved when (Global) catastrophes occur . A complex situation could arise if e.g. medical activity was neglected (e.g. under global warming) in cases where measures where required (e.g. if Health Care became predominantly a profit organization) .When "LIBERALIZING"
HEALTH CARE VULNERABLE CITIZENS these factors would definitely have to be taken into account. Note below added and printed 04-12-08 18:30A statement about immortality in the 21th century may not be the same as such a statement in the 20th century considering our rate of progress at a geometric rate in dynamic interaction of the micro- and macro- systems of which our planetary meta-system and comparable systems in our known universe are and may be composed .
If our species would survive another hundred years -and why not?- what would be our knowledge then? Considering this rate of progress? And a hundred years after that? And . . . a . . . thousand years later . . . ? Could we . . . in all fairness maintain that eternal life would be . . . impossible . . . Or would it now be fair to ask for a burden of proof that it would not be possible . . .
One aspect we can evaluate at the moment is the incredible influence of global Internet
in this respect . A wise and benign use of this system will allow humans an exchange of
knowledge which can be extremely motivating e.g for scientist and especially for their
minds and brains .
The time will come (or perhaps already has come ...) that all they want is a cubicle in
which there stable state can be maintained and an Internet linked computer to increase and
exchange their knowledge . . .
Let there be no misunderstanding please . . . I am
talking about your PERSONAL IMMORTALITY not the immortality of our species . . .
And the essence of our text is that we say the burden of proof : that PERSONAL IMMORTALITY
may never be possible may have to be reconsidered .
I am talking about the immortality of our active mind ultimately -and stepwise- being transferred to a mechanical structure that will execute the precise commands of our active mind in the same way our active mind executes the commands of our person when we where still fully recognizable as a "flesh and blood human" .
With "STEPWISE" I mean in the way which is
already common practice today .
Today, in the year 2008 , it is almost common practice to replace parts of our bodies by
artificial systems when necessary .
A comparable operation was inconceivable a century ago , let alone two or (many) centuries
ago .
Extrapolating this reality to a (maybe not so distant)
future logically leads to the model we are proposing .
It also means we should , with full conviction , start working towards it .
Maybe some groups already are . . .

It is the way of systems in evolution always to try and see how far they can go and if
left unchallenged the result is also evolution . Our Foundation is simply bound by its statutes which
incorporate prevention of (defacto) genocide which could certainly relate to neglect of
